Indigo Berry jewellery is about the the joy of walking barefoot on the sand, the wind in your hair, a blanket of purple heather, the whisper of fairy folk … and losing yourself in the spirals of celtic art.
Having escaped from the Midlands in 1990, maker Michelle Seviour has now lived in the Isle of Skye for over 30 years. Her jewellery is frequently inspired by the textures, colours and patterns of the natural landscape as well as the culture of her island home. She is also influenced by her love of the Pre-Raphaelite painters and Celtic folklore. She uses a wide range of ethically sourced gemstones – and sometimes adds vintage buttons from her grandmother’s button box! Her handcrafted silver pieces begin life as silver clay and are textured, shaped and sanded before firing in the kiln to burn away the clay and reveal the sterling silver. These pieces are then hallmarked at Edinburgh Assay Office.
